Coders aren't easy to love, and they're harder to watch They spend hours and days in refactoring phase To kick up performance one notch Don't try to talk to a coder when they're in "the zone" Even in a big crowd, their head's up in the clouds Lost in a world of their own Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders Don't let 'em write Java or code C++ Make 'em be doctors or lawyers and such Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders 'Cuz they'll never get dates; they're obsessed with bit rates Annoying the ones that they love Programmers might run the world And make our lives really cool But they're awkward with good-looking chicks, they don't hang at the pool So mothers, give heed to these words, yes, please listen to this If your baby grows into a geek, You might not get grandkids! Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders Don't let 'em script python or ruby on rails Make 'em play sports or swing hammers and nails Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders 'Cuz they're lousy at small talk, and smarter than you Annoying the ones that they love So Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders Don't let 'em have heroes like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs Don't let 'em surf SourceForge, or read Dr. Dobbs Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders 'Cuz they never grow into a real social life And they only drive Volvos and Saabs! Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be coders 'Cuz they'll never get dates talking about wait states Annoying the ones that they love
